AIA headquarters extension at Abu Nu'as street 1992

Peoples' Council Complex of Nassiria

Municipality of Nassiria like other municipalities in Iraq must have a special building to accommodate the municipality council to meet, discuss and decide on certain issues related to the people and government.

this building can also be used for especial meetings and occasions, that is why it includes also a large meeting hall in addition to administrative offices.

Nassiria Official Rest House

Location: Nassiria city

The Ministry of Interior affairs had a scheme of developing the capitals of the municipality of the southern part of Iraq which the city of Nassiria is one of these.

Nassiria city lacks an official rest house to accommodate the officials visitors of the municipality and a place to hold the ceremonial gathering there.

the firm was assigned this project in 2003. The estimated cost was 130,000,000-I.D.

Baghdad Bank Jamila Branch

Location: Jamila district designed in 1999
Client: Baghdad Bank

Baghdad Bank needed a branch at Al-Jamila district in 1999, and commissioned the project to the office as designers and constructors.

It was a one floor layout in a building already built at the site. So the job was to rehabilitate it to fulfill the bank requirements with minimum expenses. Total cost was 350.000.000- I.D construction with furnishing. It was a total turn-key project

Habibia Police Complex in South East of Baghdad

Location: Habibia-Baghdad
Client: Ministry of Interior Affairs-2003
Showing fortress-like expressions throughout the building was to define the type of functions it supplies to the community and that was a reason for the client to standardize four other similar to fulfill the requested renovations by higher authorities.

Iraqi Reinsurance Headquarters

Location: Al-Firdows Square - Baghdad
Client: Ministry of Finance Reinsurance Company-2003

Iraqi Reinsurance Company owns a large plot at Al-Firdows Square, commissioned the office to design a master plan to it consisting five commercial buildings and the sixth to be the headquarters of the company. Depending on the structure showed the artistic touch of the designer and his ability of mastering the sculptural signs in architecture. The estimated cost is 750.000.000-I.D.

Iraqi Airways Building in Mousel

Location: Mousel
Client: Iraqi Airways Company-Ministry of Transportation-1992

A commercial building was commissioned to the office to be designed to the Iraqi Airways Company in Mousel. The ground floor will be the company’s headquarter at that municipality while the upper floors will be commercial apartments to be rented for the benefit. Still the structure remains the main feature of the elevation elements. Simplicity of form defines the mass of the building that occupies a curved land facing a square.

Iraqi Commercial Bank Headquarters and Main Branch Building

Location: Alsa'adoun Street Baghdad
Client: The Iraqi Commercial Bank-1998

A five-store building located at the middle of Al-Sa’adoon Street surrounded by commercial buildings, entertainment, and hotels was designed to be the headquarters of the Iraqi Commercial Bank. The main bank branch will use the lower two stories and basement, while the upper three will accommodate the bank’s headquarters. The office held the responsibility of construction management to the building after designing it for the client. It took two years to be constructed with the total cost of 650.000.000-I.D.

United Bank for Investment U.B.
Al-Karada Branch-1993

Location: Al-Karada District in Baghdad Client: United Bank for Investment

The U.B.I. Bank planned to build number of branches all over Iraqi main cities and towns. This building is considered to be the first branch located at the commercial center of Karada. This is one of the buildings which was commissioned to the firm as a turn-key job. Designed and constructed and furnished to the bank completely in eighteen months.

Al-Sagha Market

Al-Mamoon Supermarket

It is one of the few supermarket buildings in Baghdad owned by Iraqi Co-operative Union.

The project was one of two projects awarded to us to work on the complete design of its building in the year1998.


-Sadoon Commercial Center

This ten story commercial building project was started in 1991 and it included offices, flats, shops, international airline agencies, a bank and an underground car park.


Commercial Building at Al-Rubai'i Street in Baghdad 1993

Client: Mr. Adnan Aswad

One of the main aspects of ADNAN ASWAD's design is to emphasize on the structure as a mean of his sculptural touch and hobby. This is shown in most of the detailed structural elements of the building, which became afterwards the focal point of the street.

Mr. Shawqi Al-Kubaisi Two Tower Commercial Complex

Client: Mr. Shawqi Al-Kubaisi

Located at the most expensive area of Sadoon St. - Baghdad, it was build in 1992. One of the ten story towers is used as an office block and the other one as a residential one.

Both are above two store super market and an underground car park.


Visitor city - First Prize Competition Urban Design Phase two 2000

Client: Municipality of Najaf

Phase two of the project was commissioned to be designed as four star hotels in one complex to occupy the foreign visitors of the holy city facing the shrine from one side and the Najaf sea from the other side. Depending on the slope of the site the benefit of the view was reached to all hotels.

Al-Saddoon Commercial Center

A ten storey commercial building includes offices, flats, shops, international airline agencies, a bank and an underground car park located at Al-Saadoon main street . The owner, Iraqi Airways Company commissioned this project to the office in 1992 and the estimated cost was 2.500.000- I.D


Commercial Building in A'Adhamia 1999

Client: Mr. Anwar Sabri

Two main features signify this design. The first is depending on the idea of sculptural structural framing to exhibit the mass of the building and secondly the use of color that Baghdad lacks. It is located at the officer's main road in A'adhamia district consisting of three commercial floors and a basement. The estimated cost was 650.000.000- I.D.

 

Al-Rabi'i Building-1990

Location: Al-Rabi'i street in Jamia'a District
Client: Mr. Ridha Al Kafagi

The main feature in this building is the concrete structure with its slender columns embraced with simplified details to attract light from the skylight above and to insure having sharp shades and shadows at the interior court that is the main entrance of the building.


Reinsurance Commercial Building

Location: in Kerbela City

The Reinsurance Company investments in Kerbela were commissioning this project to be designed as a three star hotel. Its conceptual design was to depend on the structural frame to form the mass and the final view of the elevation to minimize cost.

Bilat Al-Shuhada Memorial Monument

Location: the South-West of Baghdad on the motorway connecting South of Baghdad to the West.
Client: Municipality of Baghdad – 1988

On the 13th of October 1987 one of the Iranian rockets hit Bilat Al-Shuhada elementary school in Dora -Baghdad caused large and serious destruction to the school building and causing childhood massacre, killing 43 students all under 12. The municipality of Baghdad awarded the design of this memorial monument to our firm on the basis that our task is to design the building and all interior and sculptures, in additional to structural designs required to construct external sculptures done by Iraqi artists. The building includes a museum, cinema, cafe, shops, and other childhood services and recreational areas.

Saddam Mosque in Al-Ouja

Competition at 1982 3rd Award

Design has been dependent on the Islamic religion philosophy. At the same time the vernacular architecture of Iraq was taken into consideration. Form of design is not the usual, nor the typical of Islamic mosques, yet it is the sculptural out look of the architect.

Presidential Palace

Architectural Design competition – 1988

Located at the South West of Baghdad on the right side of the highway to Baghdad International Airport.

When it was announced that this design has got the second prize among the fifty one participants at the competition, most of the architects agreed that it was the best, because of the symbolic approach to the design, good expression and understanding of Iraqi tradition and heritage.

Devecon, the consultant firm from Finland gave good support and assistance to prepare excellent presentation to the design.

The Four Island Presidential Rest House

Location: one of the artificial lakes of Baghdad – 1990
Client: Presidential Administrative Office

Four golden pyramids on four square islands with an inverse pyramid in between, connected together by lifts and staircases in cylindrical forms is to be used as a presidential guests' and rest house.

Visitors to IMAM ALI holy shrine at the center of the old city of Najaf needs a great deal of services which the city of Najaf lacks from, such as hotels, shops, restaurants, cafes, arcades, car parks, and public toilets. This project is to be built at the area between the IMAM ALI holy shrine and Najaf sea cliff on an area of 55000 sqm.

Marzaia Church

Location: Daora-Baghdad Client: Orthodox Church-1984

The Daora residential district had no church to fulfill the spiritual needs of its inhabitants, so the orthodox community there commissioned the office to design and construct a medium size church at a plot they were donated. As the orthodox community usually comes from the north of Iraq, the style of the building outlook was part of the main idea by showing the vernacular architecture of the area they came from.

This project was located at the heart of the old city of Kerbela.

The implementation of the presidential resolutions in 1997, to develop the heart of Kerbela where the two Imams, Al-Hussain and Al-Abbas Holy Shrines are.

Imam Ali Reception Hall and Main Public Toilets

A 500 person reception hall was required to be designed to facilitate the needs of the municipality gatherings to all official and ceremonial occasions held in the holy city of Najaf. This is placed underground the main plaza facing the parking area

Plans showing the last proposal to the shades at the plaza facing the Imam shrine The municipality decided that these shades were to be constructed on the expenses of the surrounding owners therefore it was simplified because of the high cost of the first proposal yet it kept the same idea.

Part of phase one is the underground car park. It was designed to accommodate 600 cars and 50 buses on an area that goes up to 1900m2 Still the structure is the main outlook of this part of the project. Above the roof of the car park is the main central gathering shaded park.
